Apple releases AirPods Pro; internet reacts

Apple launches AirPods Pro with noise Cancellation and water-resistant features

Apple today announces in Press Release a Pro version for its wireless earbuds line. AirPods Pro will be available from 30 October 2019.

AirPods Pro is a much-anticipated upgrade variant of world best-selling wireless earbuds AirPods. This will be a new addition in AirPods family and AirPods Pro will have advanced features like noise cancellation and water-and-sweat resistance. AirPods Pro has a curvier design with rubber tips to make them comfortable as well as hold strong at the same time.

Active Noise Cancelation & Transparency

Active Noise Cancellation is AirPods Pro’s biggest feature. It uses two microphones i.e. the outward and inward-facing. The outward microphone listens to the noise in the environment and uses algorithms to generate equivalent anti-noise sound waves. It happens so fast that Apple claims noise cancellation continuously adapts the sound signal 200 times per second.

The inward-facing microphone listens to the sound inside your ears to remove the remaining noise and give a perfect noise-less experience.

A user has a choice between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. The later basically allows to let noise in. A user can shift between the modes by the new force sensor in the AirPods Pro stem.

To give a more immerse sound experience as a real Pro, Apple has integrated Adaptive EQ technology. It will automatically tune the low and mid frequencies of the sound as per the shape of an individual’s ear so you have the best and rich sound of music tailored for your hearing.

Design

The design is a little more curvier and short as compared to AirPods. AirPods Pro are in-ear earbuds as compared to AirPods which were external earbuds. The case is more rectangular and wide.

Unlike AirPods universal fit the AirPods Pro comes with a customizable fit. The Pro model has silicone in-ear tips for a better fit and comfortable seal in three swappable sizes. You can remove and set the tip which fits best in your ear. The “Ear Tip Fit Test” feature will help you choose the right tip using the iPhone.

AirPods Pro is designed to be water-resistant and rated IPX4.

The AirPods Pro stem has a force sensor. This can help you to control music and calls, and toggle mode.

Chip

The Chip is H1 which is found in second-generation AirPods and Beats Solo Pro. H1 Chip has Bluetooth 5.0 and offers 30% lower latency compared to the W1 chip in the prior version of AirPods.

Battery

The Pro needs more power and the AirPods Pro will have 30 minutes less listening time as compared to AirPods with one charge. Though, with the charging case always there you can enjoy 24 hours of wireless listening expereince with AirPods Pro just like AirPods. AirPods Pro comes with a wireless charging case and there is no option for a non-wireless charging case. You can charge with Qi-certified chargers or the Lightning connector.

Price

Like “Pros”, the AirPods Pro cost a bit more. It is priced at $249, while the regular AirPods cost $159, and $199 with a wireless case.

Twitter reacts with meme’s

Many AirPod users feel betrayed as Apple announced the Pro version right after releasing AirPods second-generation in March this year.

PCMag has further mocked for its design:

Trending #1 on YouTube

AirPods Pro has become the number one trending video on YouTube in the United States just after a day of its upload. It would be a big achievement if it was not Apple!

AirPods Pro has a long way to go. AirPods Pro is compatible with iPhone 6S and onwards. With the launch of it, Apple is going to dominant the earbuds stage which it already does with AirPods by winning over Surface Buds, Google Pixel Buds, Galaxy Buds, and Amazon’s Alexa Buds.

AirPods Pro still has a challenge from QuietComfort® 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones and Sony truly wireless earbuds.
